Corporate volunteering opportunities

Age NI corporate volunteering days give organisations the opportunity to engage with and contribute to the local community.

A true volunteering activity is rooted in kindness and driven by a desire to give back and make a positive impact. We believe our volunteers should find their experience rewarding, while learning new skills, meeting new people and making a difference to the lives of older people.

Age NI has five social day centres, based in Ballynahinch, Belfast, Dungannon, Dunmurry and Portaferry. We also have three centres which specialise in serving older people with Dementia; these are based in Ballyclare, Castlewellan and Lisburn.

Age NI day centres provide an opportunity for activities, fun, and friendship for older people, and can dramatically change lives for the better.

Volunteering opportunities include:

  • Day centre volunteer days to meet and interact with service users and staff.
  • Assist with social activities such as interactive games, arts & crafts, bingo and quizzes.

Check in and Chat Volunteer

The role of a Check in and Chat volunteer is to make a weekly telephone call, to provide companionship and a friendly voice to an older person who may be isolated or lonely. The call typically last around 30 minutes each week.

First Connect (available in Northern & Belfast Trust areas):

First Connect offers dedicated emotional and practical support at difficult times in an individual’s life; situations which are often triggered by feeling the loss of independence or sudden unexpected changes in important relationships.

Volunteers provide one to one support helping to reduce isolation and loneliness. They are matched with a local older person and will liaise directly with them to arrange meetings/visits of their choice.

Living Well Moyle (Ballycastle and the surrounding Moyle area)

Living Well Moyle aims to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life for people living with long term health conditions by helping them to reconnect with family, friends and activities within their local community.

Volunteers support older people in the Moyle area, to improve their wellbeing and help them achieve their goals and aspirations.
