Your support can make a difference!
Before coming to Age NI Roberta’s world had grown painfully small. Her husband’s Alzheimer’s meant she was a full-time carer, housebound and heartbreakingly alone.
Her social worker referred her to an Age NI day centre, and everything changed. Despite her initial hesitation she quickly realised she was amongst people just like her. People who understood.
Roberta has described the day centre as her ‘sanity and saving grace’. At the day centre she can be herself not a carer, not a wife - just Roberta.
She loves coming to the centre - reminiscing, playing games, and forming new friendships. She met Ellen and they clicked instantly, and she says it has just been ‘yakety yak’ ever since.
No older person should ever feel alone or forgotten, especially at Christmas. Will you help others like Roberta find friendship and support?
