Your support can make a difference!
Dorothy, aged 69, tells us why Check in and Chat is so important to her. Recently bereaved after years of caring for several older relatives, she now receives a weekly call from Lucy, one of our trained volunteers.
‘I really missed hearing the human voice and confiding in someone. The weekly phone call is my sunshine, I look forward to it. Lucy has helped me feel more motivated and hopeful.’
Life circumstances can change. Ill-health, losing close friends and family or retiring from the job you love can leave some older people feeling isolated and alone.
Check in and Chat often provides one to one companionship to older people at a time when they are at their lowest, building confidence and giving them a more hopeful outlook.
£100 will help toward training volunteers like Lucy to listen to and support older people.
£250 will provide a whole year of friendship calls to a lonely older person like Dorothy.
£500 will provide one-to-one emotional and practical support to an older person going through a difficult time in their life.
